Country Roads…Take Me Home…

I thought this was the perfect title for this post for 2 reasons:

1. When we go out for karaoke with Shawn’s office, they always sing this song…but they change the words slightly (we didn’t even prompt them to change the words!).

Country roads, take me home

To a place I belong

MINNESOTA, mountain momma

Take me home, country roads

2. Oh yeah, and on Saturday…Shawn and I will be taking our first trip back to the U.S.!! 🙂 Shawn is flying back to Japan on Saturday – after spending the week in China. We’re planning on meeting at the airport to fly to MN together. I hope I can find my way to the airport without any problems!!

I had to look through the archives to find some familiar photos…

We will be going into work, as well as traveling to see family and friends. We are looking forward to seeing everyone!

I am also looking forward to seeing sights like this…

While a fresh snowfall makes our neighborhood and backyard look beautiful…it’s ok if it doesn’t snow!

.

I can do without having to drive in this stuff…especially since it’s been awhile since either of us have driven a car! 🙂

Meiji Shrine Details

It’s always nice to walk around the Meiji Shrine when the crowds are relatively small. You can take your time observing some of the finer details at the shrine.

This is one of my favorite photos from the day. If only you could see and hear what was going on around this peaceful photo. Imagine the sound people clapping their hands together in prayer…imagine the sound of coins being thrown into the slatted wooden box in front of the man in prayer…imagine the sound of rock music coming from nearby Yoyogi Park…and (of course) imagine several people taking pictures.

I had to stand on my tip-toes to take this picture. I was definitely not born to be a ballet dancer!

The Meiji Shrine is surrounded by 175 acres of trees and open land. It’s nice to see nature in the middle of the city! People often come here to play games or to have a picnic.

A Wedding at the Meiji Shrine

It was a beautiful day for a wedding at the Meiji Shrine.

.

People were constantly working to make sure all of the garments were properly placed…

A few more adjustments…(this process went on for awhile).

The final photo…

After the group photo was done, the bride was taken behind the trees so her kimono could be readjusted.

A Familiar Sign

I took this photo several months ago when we visited Kamakura, but it’s a common sight no matter where you go.

Signs of Spring

It looks and feels like Spring is ready to arrive in Tokyo!

.

For a little humor on today’s post…It’s not uncommon to see laundry hanging from the windows and balconies of apartments in Tokyo. It just looks like this sweater has been left outside for a few too many days. 🙂
